The Amazing Harp Seals!

Fuzzy, Cute, Furry, these little creatures get everyone’s attention! First, what exactly are Harp Seals? Next, what’s their personality, or maybe- Sealality? And lastly, what are some other interesting facts about Harp Seals? Harp Seals are amazing, in so many ways!
So, what are Harp Seals? Well, first of all, they have a cute face, silvery gray body, and at birth they have a yellow coat that slowly turns white, then silver. Also, they have pure black eyes that always have a wondrous expression in them. Next, in size, adults usually are about 5-6 feet long. In weight, they are usually 300-400 pounds. Next, you can call a harp seal a “saddleback seal” or a “harp seal” but, if you call it a harp seal, you might want to know where it gets it’s mysterious name from. Obviously, Harp Seals get their names from harp or wishbone shaped markings on their back!
Next, how is their personality, (or sealality)? Well, they are extremely social with other harp seals and are often in large groups together. Also, when they’re in their giant groups, they can be very noisy, they wouldn’t do too well in a classroom. Pup seals call their mothers by “howling” and “mumbling”, and adults “growl” and “warble” to keep predators away from their pups.
Lastly, what are some interesting facts about Harp Seals? Well, they live in the Arctic Ocean, around the shores of east Canada and Northern Russia.: You’ll be surprised with this baffling fact: underwater, adult Harp Seals express themselves with over 19 different call types! Another fact is that they have huge eyes, and, huge pupils! Huge pupils are great for focusing on things, especially if you are constantly trying to defend yourself, and maybe even your babies!
I realize harp seals can have a tough time in the ocean. I think they are amazing animals, and there is so much to learn about them! I hope you learned a few things about harp seals, I know I did while researching them!
